Questions on Additional Requirement for Chinese Visa

FAQs regarding new requirement for Chinese Visa Application

1) You mentioned Chinese visa policy has been changed, why didn't I see it on Chinese Embassy or Consulates' website?
The Chinese Embassy's website, like most of the government websites, is not updated frequently. Once there is a policy change, it will be implemented right away in most cases. However, their website may take days or weeks to update.

Please note the Chinese Embassy and Consulate may change the visa policy at a moment notice. VisaRite is striving to provide you with the most updated information as quickly as possible.

2) I'm traveling to China on business, where should I get the official visa notification?
Please notify the inviting company in China that you need this. The full name of this document in Chinese literally is: Visa Notification Form Issued by Chinese Authorized Unit. You may advise the Chinese inviting company to contact with one of the agencies listed below for details: Municipal Foreign Affair Office, Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission, International Trade Promotion Commission, Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, etc. A sample is posted on our website for your convenience:

Normally, it only takes 2 days to 1 week to have it approved. You will probably need to submit your passport info or a passport photocopy to the Chinese company.

Hint: If you are not able to obtain this visa notification in time and you can't reschedule your trip to a later date, you may consider to apply for a tourist visa instead. Then your application must comply with tourist visa instruction.

3) What if I don't have an airline ticket yet?
You may provide a confirmed flight itinerary to the same effect. A round-trip flight itinerary emailed or faxed to you by airlines or travel agency is acceptable. If you use flight itinerary, it must be on travel agent or airlines letter head or printed from airlines website. The flight itinerary must show guest name, detail flights, confirmation number or record locator. If you need assistance to make an air reservation, you may contact with Asia Connect Tours at: (800) 803-3656.

4) What if I don't have hotel reservation?
That depends. If you stay with your relative or friend in mainland China, you will need to provide a signed invitation letter specify your name, relationship between the two, address and duration of the stay. The signed invitation letter must be postal mailed or faxed. Otherwise, you must provide at least 2 nights hotel confirmation. If you need assistance in making hotel reservation, you may contact with Asia Connect Tours at: (800) 803-3656.

5) About financial guarantee (for non-US passport holder applying for a tourist visa)
Bank statement or bank letter is the easiest way to go. You may black out the account number on the statement. The statement needs to a show reasonable amount available. The guideline is to have at least $100 for each day of stay in China. You may also provide a letter of sponsorship to the same effect. If you are a student and don't have sufficient fund in your own account. You may supply a sponsor letter from your parents together with their bank statement instead.

6) About the employer letter (for non-US passport holder applying for a tourist visa)
There is no detail specification for this letter. As long as the letter is printed on your company letter head, indicating you are the employee of this company, you are on vacation and signed by someone else other than yourself. If you are self-employed, please write a statement explaining that you are self-employed and print it on your company letter head. If you are not employed, such as student, homemaker, retired, you are exempted from this requirement.
