Your India visa processing site depends on where in the United States you currently reside, also known as jurisdiction. We can help you only if you reside in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virgin Islands. Proof of residency, such as photocopy of driver's license is required.
- A Tourist Visa is given to those visiting India for tourism or other non-business related purposes. 5 year visas are available only to US citizens under a bilateral arrangement.
- There should be a gap of at least 2 months between two separate visits to India on a Tourist Visa. For Tourist Visa holders who wish to visit India within 2 months of their last visit, an application for a Permit to Re-enter India is necessary. No Permit is needed if the visa holder is traveling to multiple countries on the same itinerary and the trip follows the itinerary exactly. The visa holder must carry a copy of the itinerary to show the Immigration Officer.
- All non-US passport holders are only eligible for up to a Six (6) month Tourist visa.
Please Prepare and Send the Following Items
1Actual passport, signed, valid at least 6 month beyond stay with blank visa page
- Passport should have at least 6 months validity left. Otherwise, you must renew your passport first. If you need passport services, please visit our expedited passport services section.
- Passport should have at least 1 blank visa page. The last 3 pages in US passports are not visa pages. These are amendment pages, reserved by the US Department of State for amendment to the passport. They won't be acceptable for visas. If your passport has no blank visa pages left, you may add additional visa pages. If you need passport services, please visit our expedited passport services section.
- Applicants who are not Citizens of USA, but hold long term US visa or a Green Card should submit a copy of the visa or the Green Card. Do not send the original Permanent Residence Card/Green Card.
2One visa application form per person
- Complete the online India Visa Application. After the application has been completed, you must print and sign the application.
- Your name on application must match name in your passport. Surname is your last name, given name is your first and middle name.
- There is a space for the applicant signature underneath the photo on the first page, and a signature near the bottom of the second page. Applicant must signed in both places. If any part of the signature is outside of the box, the application will be rejected.
- If applicant is a minor, both parents or legal guardians must sign page 2.

3Two recent passport-type photograph
- Do not use the same photo as in your passport unless your passport was issued in less than 6 months.
- Full face, frontal with a plain white or off-white background, 2"x2" in size.
- Photo printed on regular paper or photo of poor quality is not acceptable.
- Photo needs to be taken within 6 months.
- Do not staple or glue the photo. Simply put the photo in the envelope. We will affix the photo for you.

4Proof of address

- Proof of Address: Applicants must submit a photocopy with proof of residence/address that matches the address on the visa application exactly. Photocopy of state issued ID (Driver License or ID), or major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric, Sewage) must be submitted.
- The following items are not accepted: cell phone bill, credit card statement, bank statement or lease. The address cannot include a P.O. box.
- For minors, a parent or guardian proof of address may be submitted instead.

5Additional requirement for applicant with Indian origin (Skip, if not)
The Indian government requires proof of renunciation of Indian Citizenship; Indian nationals who obtain citizenship to another country must surrender Indian citizenship. In order to apply for an Indian visa, the applicant must prove that this has been done. If the applicant has already renounced Indian citizenship, one of the following must be produced as proof:
- A certificate of renunciation issued by a Consulate of India
- A cancelled Indian passport with stamp which states, "passport is cancelled due to obtaining US (or any non Indian country) citizenship".
6Additional requirement for minor (Skip, if not)
- A photocopy of the child's birth certificate and a photocopy of both parents' signed passports name page must be submitted. The visa application must be signed by both parents. A copy of a parent's driver's license or utility bill can be used as proof of residential address in the US.
- A minor child should sign their name inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. If the child is too young to sign their name, the child's thumbprint must be stamped inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. The child's signature or thumbprint AND both parents' signatures must be included on the second page of the visa application form.
7Please complete and submit the online Visa Service Request Form
- This is the best way to tell us your application is coming as well as your return address and contact information so that confirmation and status updated can be sent to you via email. Multiple applicants can be entered using one service request form. Please print two copies of the confirmation page. Please include one copy with the documents you ship to us and keep one copy for your records.

- We accept money order, cashiers check, certified check or cash. Please make check or money order payable to VisaRite Service. and write your service request confirmation number in the memo.
- You can write the total amount on one check or money order, no need to send separate checks or money order. Personal check is not acceptable.
- You may also pay by credit card. If you select this option, please fill out and sign one credit card charge authorization form and enclose it in your application package.
- Return Shipping Fee listed is for return addresses within the continental U.S. If your return address is in Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands, please include an additional $10.00 per order.
